Egbu Diocesan Synod kicks off Thursday

Egbu town in Owerri North LGA of Imo State will play host to various arms of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu and other Christian faithful as the First Session of the Eight Synod of the diocese kicks off there on Thursday, Nov 2, at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Egbu.

Disclosing this during an interaction with newsmen at the Bishops court, Chairman of the Synod Planning Committee, Sir Osita Igwilo, said that the Synod, being hosted by Egbu Archdeaconry, would be rounded off on Sunday, Nov. 5.

He further stated that the Bishop of Egbu, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, who is presiding over the Synod as Bishop and President of Synod in the 5th year of his episcopacy will formally declare the Synod open on Friday with the presentation of the Presidential Address/Bishop's Charge with theme: "If I touch His Clothes, I will be healed"Mark 5:28), The faith of the bleeding woman-A challenge to present day believers.

According to him, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State will deliver the Synod lecture immediately after the Bishop's charge. The Synod would rise with the Synod Thanksgiving Service on Sunday Nov. 5, with the Rt. Rev. Praises Omole, Rector of St Francis Assisi Theological Institute Zaria, Kaduna state as guest preacher.

Egbu is seen as the cradle of Christianity in Igbo heartland.

Beware of mundane things - Bishop tells Knights

Members of the Council of Knights of St Christopher, Egbu Anglican Diocese, have been warned not to allow mundane things to prevent them from making heaven.

Bishop of the diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, gave the warning while speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark the end of the knights' chapter meeting recently at Emmanuel Church, Emii, Owerri North LGA of Imo State.

He said that it would be most ridiculous and an irony of fate should any of them be cast out after living as a knight.
