Bishop Maduwike hosts SAGS Old Boys at Atta

Bishop Emmanuel Maduwike of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru, last Sunday, hosted the 2016 end-of-year get-together of the St. Augustine's Grammar School Old Boys Association (SAGSOBA) Owerri Branch at the Bishop's Court, Atta, Ikeduru.

Addressing the Old Boys and then wives and children in attendance, Rt. Rev Maduwike, JP, who is also an Old Boy of the school, told them not to be discouraged in the face of the present economic down turn, adding that “weeping may tarry with the night, but joy comes in the morning.”

He thanked God for sparing their lives and reminded them that in these trying times, one can only overcome through the abiding faith in God.

Bishop Maduwike, JP, urged his colleagues to continue to contribute to the restoration of the institution to its former glory.

The 68-year-old school was among the mission schools returned to their original owners by the Imo State Government.

At the opening devotion, an Anglican cleric, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Egbule, commended the team spirit among the members in contributing to the development and rehabilitation of their alma-mater.

He urged them to always put their trust in God.

In his address, the SAGSOBA Chairman Owerri Branch, Chief Dr. R. I. Agbarakwe, thanked members who have so far contributed to the growth of the school and urged them not to relent.

He thanked Bishop Maduwike for hosting the association for the fifth year running and prayed to God to sustain him and his family.

Also speaking at the August gathering, the National President of the Association, Prof. C.B.C. Ohanuzue, encouraged members to live and save the association with vigour- reflecting on the motor of the association which is “Ibu Anyi Danda” (Working collectively, no task can overwhelmed ants).

He reeled out some of the achievements of the association which include deforestation of the institution and planting of over 500 palm seedlings, rehabilitation of principal's quarters, donation and equipping of technical Drawing Studio, donation of several volumes of books and many others and enjoined them to sustain the tempo.

In a vote of thanks, the association thanked the Lord Bishop of Ikeduru for his hospitality and support to the association.
