Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has been urged to fulfil his election promise of establishing industries and factories in the state to check youth unemployment.
The Bishop of Isi Mbano, Rt. Rev. Godson Ukanwa, made the call while presenting his Presidential Address at the just-concluded synod of the Diocese held at St. Andrew's (Ang) Church, Umuduru, in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Bishop also urged the governor to stop further demolition of structures and finish the ongoing projects he has at hand.
He reminded the governor that his administration was in its “injury time” and listed its unfinished projects, urging him also to upgrade the Osu Technical School to a polytechnic.
He, however, commended the governor for his free education programme, noting that the people cherished his humanitarian nature and his successes in security and infrastructure.
He called for more local governments in Okigwe senatorial district of Imo State.
Governor Okorocha, in his campaign for a second term, promised “jobs, jobs, jobs, factory, factory, factory, employment, employment, employment”.
On the side of faith, Bishop Ukanwa, in his address at the synod, called upon Christians to wake up from slumber and watch and pray against the bad times.
Speaking on the theme of the synod, “The Time of the Day and the need of the hour. A historio-theology investigation of the sons of Issachar,” the Bishop advised Christians to study the times to be able to predict its consequences, in line with the Biblical sons of Issachar with the Israelites who desired to know the time and events.
He said that God wants the wise men filled with love and God's anointing to steer the nation and the church in the right direction through healing the hurt, cleansing the corrupt and giving direction to the misguided.
Preaching the sermon, the Bishop of Afikpo, the Rt Rev. Paul A. Udogu (JP) listed events in Nigeria that signify the endtime to include rumours of war, existence of false preachers and prophets, national uprising and other forms of iniquities.
He said Christians must, like the sons of Issachar, be wise and careful to interpret the time and follow it up with repentance.
He urged Ndigbo to fight their enemies with prayer to avert invasion and called on Christians to watch over their spiritual life, pointing out that a praying Christian is a conqueror.
He commended Bishop Ukanwa and his wife, Godiva, for their good leadership in the diocese.
The event featured the investiture of synod fathers and mothers and fund raising.
