Bishop makes case for old Christians

Bishop Cyril C. Okorocha PhD of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, has emphasized the need to care for old Christians in the Church and the society at large.
The Bishop was speaking at a one-day synod that came after the 3rd session of the 20th synod of the diocese.

He said that taking care of old people who served God when they were younger is one of the ways of guarding the Gospel, in line with the synod theme, “Guard the Gospel”.

The one-day synod also took place at the Christ's Church Owerrri and it signaled the conclusion of this year's synod of the Diocese.

Expounding on the theme, Guard the Gospel” the prelate said that most Christian faithful including ordained priests, have abounded their faith in pursuit of material things that do not last. He described the situation as worrisome.

He commended the Christ's Church Archdeaconry for their effort and commitment to host this year's synod, even as he urged them not to relent in propagating the gospel.

Earlier in his message Rev. Canon Chinemerem Uche, of the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) had said that most Christians who profess the doctrine of Christ do not live by it a situation he described as unacceptable.

He said, most parents have failed in their responsibilities of properly guiding their children, some of them live fake lives while claiming to be menders of Parochial church committee (PCC), the chair, including EFAC.

He charged them to properly guard the gospel by teaching their children the undiluted word of God.
