Don’t dilute God’s word to please people - Bishop charges church leaders

Church leaders have been advised not to be static and to avoid “routine and maintenance” ministry as the Church exists in a dynamic and competitive environment.
The Bishop of Yewa Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Michael Oluwarohunbi, gave the advice at this year's retreat of Anglican bishops at the Ibru Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha Otor Delta State.

He, however, reminded the bishops of the need to deliver the word of God, undiluted and with zeal, to the people.

Using Prophet Ezekiel as a model, the bishop said that ministers of God must preach words of lamentation, perseverance and salvation with boldness.

He urged the bishops to approach their Episcopal assignments with humility, awe and reverence to God, and that influence, authority, coller and material possessions are rare privileges from God.

While urging the church leaders not to conform to the world standards, he said that faithfulness in Christ cannot be measured by the size of the church or number of followers.

Speaking on the level of unwholesomeness in the body of Christ, Bishop Oluwarohunbi said that no matter how anointed they may be, they should go against unholiness.
