Steer clear of danger, Bishop tells youths
Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, the Rt. Rev Geoffrey Okorafor has urged youths in the country to refrain from living lives that exposes them to dangers.
He specifically cautioned the South East and South South youths to be weary of the antics of the Muslims who have invaded the zones, enticing them with financial inducements in order to islamise them.
Bishop Okorafor, who gave the advice during a Eucharistic service of confirmation, admission and induction for the Cathedral Parish at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Egbu in Owerri North LGA, noted that the girls were lured into marriage while their male counterparts were offered scholarship to study abroad, who, in the course of their studies, get islamised.
The Bishop challenged parents to ensure that their children were well rooted in Christianity, observing that today, both parents were workers and often times leave their children to the care of nannies, and enjoined them to spare sometime for their children. While acknowledging that the world was full of evil, he urged parents to ensure their wards avoided companies that could destroy them perpetually. He made particular reference to their involvement in cultism, which has led to the death of a good number of them and subsequent heartbreak of some parents.
Earlier the Bishop's Chaplain, Rev Progress Okoroafor, in his sermon entitled ''Children of a new covenant'', averred that owing to their imperfections, the people failed in keeping their pact in these covenant. God, he explained, is a covenant keeping God and has continued to show mercy and forgiveness each time He remembered this covenant.
Rev Okoroafor noted that God had to establish the new covenant of grace, hoping that the people would live out their own pact but regretted that a good number of the people, especially among the youths ,instead indulge in varying atrocities. He charge them to turn away from their sinful lives and embrace the salvific grace through Jesus Christ.
