The Bishop Lasbery Girls College, Irete, Imo State has held this year's sendoff of its graduating students, during which the school's headmistress urged he students to be good ambassadors of the school.
The Principal, Mrs. Victoria Echeruo, enumerated the successes of the school within a short time and its projections in future.
According to her, the students came out tops in the October 1, 2016 Independence match past in Owerri West LGA as well as in some bible quiz competitions.
She also said that the students had held excursions to important places and had been exposed to several skills acquisition programmes including beads making, sewing, production of jewelry and toiletry.
Mrs. Echeruo said, that the school, which is one of those returned to the Anglican Diocese of Owerri by the Imo State. Government, would make computer studies compulsory.
She thanked Bishop Cyril C. Okorocha PhD of the diocese and his wife, Dr (Mrs) Eunice Okorocha, for their support and also commended the Director of schools in the diocese, Ven. James Onyekwelibe PhD, Rev. B. Agwah, the school's Chaplain as well as staff and students, for their loyalty and hard work.
In his speech, the school's Chaplain, Rev. (Engr.) Agwah, urged the girls to put God first in their dealings, advising them not to fear obstacles on their way.
He also warned them not to follow things of the world as they enter into the world.
Also speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Dame Nkemakokam advised the graduands not to let the school down and to be good examples.
The Senior Prefect, Onyeakusi Nzubechi, urged the outgoing students not to forget their alma matter and thanked them for their love and care.
Responding, the outgoing Senior Prefect, Ihechi Dike Elsie, thanked the school's management, staff and students and promised, on behalf of their colleagues, not to let them down.
The occasion featured presentation of prizes in various categories in which Onyemuche Precious (JSS1) was Best Student, Opara Chizitere, Second Best and Okezie Favour, 3rd Best.
Others were SS1: Ogbonna Chinaza, Best Student, Osuji Mmesomachi, 2nd Best, Iwu Chinonso, 3rd Best; SS2: Onyekwusi Nzubechi, Best Student, Mbabia Nmesoma, Best Behaved.
Rev. & Mrs. Chidi Nlemchukwu were honoured for their encouragement and organization. Also honoured was the Vice Principal, Mrs. Stella Eke.
