The Anglican faithful in the Diocese of Owerri will on Thursday, Oct. 5, converge at Christ's Church, Owerri for this year's synod of the diocese.
Christian Voice reporter who visited the venue of the coming event observed that the church premises had been made ready for more than 1,000 delegates and guests expected at the synod.
Speaking on the synod, with the theme “Guard the Gospel”, the Archdeacon in charge of Christ's Church Archdeaconry Owerri, Ven. Zion Ngoka, said that more than 1,000 persons are expected to grace the occasion.
He assured that the church is ready for the event as all facilities are on ground, such as the new ultra-modern hall, conveniences, and parking lots for delegates and invitees.
The cleric who spoke to our reporter in high spirit said adequate preparations have been made by the synod local and domestic organizing committees for security as well as personnel to attend to the needs of delegates.
“We are prepared to give the best to all synod delegates both spiritually and physically.
“ We just concluded a 3-day power-parked pre-synod gospel outreach as part of the spiritual preparation to ensure that people coming for the synod are blessed and revitalized.
Ven. Ngoka, who could not hide his feelings, appreciated the effort of the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha, PhD. And for choosing Christ's church Archdeaconry Owerri to host the synod.
“I want to thank God for Our Lord Bishop for choosing Christ's Church Owerri, to host this year's synod. God will bless him with fresh understanding that his ministry will be indelible in the history of Christianity in Owerri area.
We wish him and his wife Mama Owerri, all the blessings which only God can give to them that serve him diligently”.
The Christ's Church Archdeacon solicited for adequate reportage of the synod proceedings from the media.
Also speaking, chairman synod local organizing committee Sir Ndukwe Nnawuchi (San) said despite the hard times in Imo state and the country in general God has remained faithful.
He said: “We know that Christ's church is a church in the market, and everyone knows what happened to Ekeukwu Owerri the fate of traders.
Many of Our faithful the traders in that market, and they were adversely affected.
God is still God, we are fully prepared, and everything has been put in place for the synod.
Also, the project building committee chairman, Sir Alphosus Unegbu, is not left out. He assured that work is on top gear, adding that the synod is already a success.
About 1000 delegates are expected to arrive on Thursday, October 5, while other quarts without join them on Saturday 7, and Sunday 8th when the event shall be rounded off with a thanksgiving service and other activities as scheduled.
