Ikeduru Diocesan Synod kicks off Thursday Oct. 12 2017






St. Simon's Anglican Church Ugiri-Ike , venue of the 3rd Session of the 3rd Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru, is now wearing a new look, as more than 1,000 delegates from within and outside the diocese are expected at the auspicious event.

According to a release from the office of the Clerical Synod Secretary (CSS), Ven. J.B.C. Njoku, the gathering of the faithful in the Diocese will officially commence on Thursday, October 12 with the arrival of delegates and courtesy calls on the three traditional rulers in the area. It will, however, end on Sunday, October 15.

The 2017 synod, which has “Jesus Christ, The Boundary Breaker” as its theme will, among others, feature formal opening, presentation and launching of Bishop's charge, Archdeaconry reports, presentation of awards, launching for Diocesan projects, as well as synod thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, all the necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth takeoff of the event.

Speaking to Christian Voice the Vicar of the parish and the Administration of Ugiri-Ike Area, Rev. Canon Peter U. Duruaku, said that all arrangements for adequate security and accommodation have been concluded.

He said that the local organizing committee has been working round the clock to see that everything is in place before the commencement of the event.

Christian Voice also gathered that the Diocesan Directorate of Mission and Evangelism is organizing a two-day pre-Synod crusade to mark the event.
