Obazu warring factions embrace peace ... Imo Dep. Gov commended for brokering peace in the community
There was great jubilation at Obazu Mbieri, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State last Saturday when the news that the warring factions in the community have embraced peace filtered in.
The peace agreement was brokered by the Imo State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prince Eze Madumere, MFR, and sealed at his Lake Malinda country home in Achi Mbieri.
The crises which was said to have caused the Imo second citizen many sleepless nights, has lasted for more than two years. But with patience and perseverance, peace was finally achieved to the glory of God.
The signing of the peace agreement was followed last Sunday with a special thanksgiving service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church (HTC), Obazu Mbieri where all the parties to the dispute appreciated God for using Prince Eze Madumere to bring the much desired peace in the community.
Also speaking, the elated Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere who could not hide his feelings over the peace accord said that his joy knew no bound as peace had finally returned to 'OBZ London', the pride of Mbiere Nwotuoke. He enjoined the people to always live in peace, as no development can take place in the atmosphere of bitterness and rancor.
Following the peace agreement, a caretaker committee headed by Mr. Amaechi Ejiogu Zebulon was appointed to run the affairs of the community till December 2017.
The committee, among others, had been charged to draft a new constitution, settle all disputes, unite all warring factions in Obazu villages, organize 2017 Emume Azu Festival and finally conduct elections in the community.
Jubilant sons and daughters of Obazu Mbieri who spoke to Christian Voice expressed joy over the peace agreement.
They showered encomiums on Prince Eze Madumere for bringing peace back to Obazu Mbieri, and prayed that God in His infinite mercy would continue to strengthen him.
They also pledged their unalloyed support to the rescue government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha in his efforts to transform Imo State into a peaceful, progressive and God- fearing state.
The caretaker committee has since swung into action to meet the December deadline for the emergence of a new executive for Obazu.
