Drugs and food supplements worth thousands of naira were, at the weekend, distributed freely to communities within and around Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, courtesy of senator samdaddy Anyanwu, in collaboration with Neolife Health Organization and Nma Olebara foundation.
The two-day event, which took place at central school Amaimo in the groups thanking the organizers of the exercise.
Declaring the event open, the traditional ruler of Umuofor Amaimo autonomous community H.R.H Eze Collins Otumbadi, thanked the organizers of the event for their kind gesture.
He said that to bring health care at the door step of the people to avail themselves of the services of the organizes.
Eze Otumbadi specifically commended Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu, Neolife Health organization and Nma Olebara foundation for their magnanimity and love, especially on the less-privileged of the society, adding that out-reach would cushion the effect of the present economic hardship.
Delivering a health talk, miss Glory Nkemjika of the pathway health organization dwelt on causes and symptoms of various health problems, like diabetes, cancer, prostate enlargement, high blood pressure which she said cause stroke and other.
She advised all to go for food items that are rich fiber and other nutrients, such as beans, fish, periwinickle, cocoa yam and other. She also emphasized on health benefits of suits and vegetables and enjoined all to take enough fruits.
Also speaking to Christian Voice, pastor Tonny Duru, a consultant with the pathway health organization emphasized more on what he described as food supplement as according to him, most people now eat what he describes as trash due prevailing economic situation in the country.
He said that his organization is in collaboration with the Newlife Helath organization and Nma Olebara Foundation to give people life in abundance. He advises men to run away from excessive intake of alchohol and also a delta to eat less of whole egg, adding that egg yolk is not good for adults.
On what motivated the organizes to embark on the two-day exercise, Dr Nma Olebara, the Director of the Neolife Health organization said that the exercise was passion driven.
She said that health is wealth, adding that a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.
Dr. Olebara expressed joy that people availed themselves of the free medical treatment. She advised all to go back to the food and vegetables of yester years like cocoa yam, fluted pumkin, bitter leaf, scent leave and other which she said our forefathers ate and lived long.
She expressed profound appreciation to Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu who she said had a large heart for the less-privileged in the society, and prayed that God would continue to sustain him.
Mr Roberty Amaku, a retired police officer who was among those who received treatment, expressed joy, and hoped to opportunity would call again.
